If you watched the recent series of Poldark on TV, you may recognise this as Ray Penvenen's (played by John Nettles) home, Killewarren. It is said that it appealed to the production team because it is still lived in by the original family, the Floyds. This gives ‘Killewarren’ a feeling of warmth and domesticity which couldn’t be recreated in a studio.

With PiP ~ There are two topiary pavilions at Great Chalfield Manor. They were designed by Alfred Parsons RA, to complement the restoration of the Manor for Robert Fuller (donor to the National Trust) by the architect Sir Harold Brakspear FSA. The design was created over a four year period from 1907 to 1911.and planted about 1910, they form garden rooms for shade on hot days and shelter from downpours, with a quatrefoil shape Lily pond between them.
