A panorama of the aftermath at the second harvesting location. The humps are grass waiting to be collected.

Yes, I took this while riding atop an unstable 4m-high pile of grass as we moved from one location to another. And yes, I posed like Muad'dib on a sandworm while doing it.

In all, we brought in 36 wagon loads of grass in one day, with four more loads cut and waiting to be collected later, of the 60 loads needed to re-roof the barn. Note that some of the day's haul is on the other side of the barn. They started dumping the grass here when that area was filled up - I think this is only around 20 loads or so.

It didn't occur to me until I saw this to wonder how they got the grass out of the wagons. Derp.

The third and final stop of the day. This shot has a medieval feel to me for some reason. Like a Breughel landscape.

Filling up a wagon. I spent the day doing what the guy in white is doing: spreading out the hay to fill the wagon, stomping it down a little to compress it to fit more in, while avoiding falling off the top or getting buried by the next load.
