Sunlight weaves its silver. Transient in desolate brevity. Leaving as soon as it arrives. Always unseeing. I open my eyes And wander in the dark.

The spring chill Never easy to ignore, Beds down the dusk. And the camellia tree That sparkled only Twelve hours before, Shakes black As the skulk unleashes. Hands cover ears Waiting for the sun, The great deceiver, To arrive Imperceptibly, Never revealing its Companion's misdeeds, Until the ever present Warning of birdsong Laments the break Of day, once more.

Was it you walking Behind me Under blue skies, Before the day Turned to evening? Shapes on The shoreline. A dream once vivid. Moments That came to pass, And then forgotten, Until sadness Whispered them to life.

Morning star, Out of the winter sun You appeared in black With chords of comfort, And all the songs I had ever known. I traded my soul For a lyre For you to play. And when the darkness Came I listened, until A nightmare Set me free.
