The central plaque is in memory of colleagues killed in World War 2. The rest commemorate those who died in World War 1. It is noteworthy that these memorials were erected by their colleagues, not the employing railway company.

One of the earliest diesel trains in the UK. Not many had this streamlined look. Subsequent batches had more angular ends.

When my Father was Vicar of Coleford, Somerset and Alan Newman was Vicar of Bradford-on-Avon, in the 1950s & 60s they sometimes went on railway trips in that part of the country. Colin Maggs has recently published a book on Alan's railway photography - "The life of a steam railway photographer - The Reverend Alan Newman". None of these four photographs appear in the book. They were photos Alan sent my father, sometimes in a Christmas card. Should there be any issues of copyright I shall delete them immediately.
