This is a cable powered funicular tramway, with the cables driven partly by counterbalancing two cars and partly by electrical winch assistance. The tramway is in two sections, controlled by winch operators at the Halfway Station. Conductors on the cars have braking controls. The cable can be seen below the uphill end of this car. The trolley poles, that can be seen in some photos, used to be used for telecommunication between the cars and the winch station, via overhead wires. The system is now wireless, but the trolley poles have been retained.

I was on my way back from a funeral in Cardiff, when I took this. I took a few others but they were rubbish. Had I been on my own I would have spent more time on the stations here and at Cardiff and would have had more photos to share.

Pembrey diesel

I did establish the identity of this little diesel. There were two and this was No.2. The rest has now slipped from my mental grasp! The photo was taken in the mid 1980s
I think I have now found my reference on the RMWeb site -
'Carmarthen Bay Power Station was located about a mile east of Burry Port and connected to the main line. The station ceased to produce electricity in about 1984, and the two Andrew Barclay 0-4-0DM locos were preserved during 1985. No.2 AB393/54 remained local, moving to the Kidwelly Industrial Museum, whereas No.1 moved to Norchard on the Dean Forest Railway where I snapped it about five years later.'
Comparing this photo with a close-up photo of No.1, mentioned above, they are similar but not identical. So I think that this is No.2.

I really should have saved this and made it into a Christmas card, for all the fans of Dad's railway photos.
Anyway - Happy Christmas one and all!
