this is 2009 Archives of this Lady .. for the past 2 years, winter has been too cold for the Cactus to recover in time to bloom .. so, if and that is a Big IF it were blooming .. this is what I would have posted .. so, hope you enjoy this Night Blooming Cereus even though it isn't happening .. at least not in my yard ! © All rights reserved

cereus flower, produced by this cactus, will last one night.. maybe part of the next day.. all depends on the weather.. Cereus are saucer-size, very fragrant & show-offs that burst from submarine-looking buds .. 2009 July © All rights reserved

.. droplets of rain .. on a flower that only bloomed at 10pm .. attached to a spiky cactus [ yes, it hurt ] .. always warned my neighbor that I'd be out there .. the first year, I didn't tell her .. she and her husband wondered 'who was outside their bedroom window at 10pm at night' .. on a night like this, with no moon .. carrying a flashlight and a camera became a balancing act .. but worth it all © All Rights Reserved - 1 PiP - “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” Buddha

of course, had to crop out the house next door.. recycle bin.. camera bag.. couldn't get all of "made by--- fence company sign out, though... no moon out to help me see what I'm doing..

and there was no moon.. just the light from my camera... and a flashlight.. these flowers are so fragile looking.. I am in awe.. if you are lucky to see them, you know exactly what I mean.. © All rights reserved

the cactus grew throught the fence.. so, the Cereus, which is attached to the tip of the cactus.. had to follow along.. beautiful, fragrant, large bloom ..2009 July © All Rights Reserved
