Cloister

07 Dec 2014 1 399
This part of the Charterhouse dates back to the Carthusian priory that stood here before the dissolution of the monasteries. Brother Duncan showed us a remaining door to what would have been a monk's cell. During the time that the Charterhouse School was here, the lads played football in the cloister and invented the "loose" off-side rule (whatever that is). The cloister is often used in filming of movies and tv programmes.
