Landie (on his way to the Sahara) surveys a row of Toyotas in Gibraltar, presumably en route to some kind of UN project in Africa. I've since found that the Toyota dealer on the rock specialises in just that. Their brochure is serious eye-candy.
Incidentally, this Discovery has since been stolen — if you happen to see a 300Tdi that looks as though " www.aidconvoy.net " has been removed from its doors, do please let me know...

Between Chernihiv and Nizhin, Ukraine. Advertising a garage where hopefully they fix them, rather than just mounting them for display :)
It's a Zap .
What's the Landie up to? It's on a humanitarian aid mission to the Chornobyl area of Ukraine. Check out www.aidconvoy.net .

Landie at Zamglai

Landie (currently somewhat missing-in-action) with some of the girls from Zamglai, who really love posing for photos. Digital cameras are such an amazing tool here, because we can be sure they actually get to see themselves in the pics!
Zamglai is an "internat" - a sort of orphanage. Here the inmates, all girls, are looked after by the staff who are paid only as often as can be afforded.
The older girls look after the younger ones, and the more capable help the less capable. Some of them are orphans, many simply can't be looked after at home. When they reach 24 they will either try to live together, and continue to look after each other, or will often end up in an asylum.

Leaving Las Brighton

Moving out of Brighton for the very last time, Landie full of posessions...
Kinda links up with my recent meet-up with Toby just prior to his going to live in an eco-village in Missouri for a while. See this of him and this of me .
Incidentally, the vehicle has since been stolen - if you happen to see a discovery which looks as though " www.aidconvoy.net " has been removed from its doors, do please let me know...

We know Nicky and David must like us, because roughly this picture (a little sunnier!) is on the front cover of their brochure — complete with Landie in it! :)
Landie (and ancestor)

Just a nice little village square. It was pretty quiet, and we sat outside the little café and took in village life for a while — unwinding with one of our last stops on our way home.
Home — roof tent on Discovery

Landie's brilliant Maggiolina roof tent, being demonstrated by Simon.
The ladder is the standard steel one, later replaced by the lighter and more rigid (but more fiddly) aluminium one.
The tent itself is now deceased, having taken the brunt of the impact from my inverted Toyota Land Cruiser. (And possibly also saving my head!) Photos of that uploading shortly (hence the updating of this comment!)
Last trip

The last shot I ever took with this little Nikon Coolpix E2000 before the sand killed it, and one of the last major trips for Landie before he was stolen.
Sahara, Morocco. Well, probably Morocco. Possibly Algeria! ;)
Just uploading a few bits that never made it before — I'm having a hard disc re-organisation and I thought they may as well go up! :)
Landie in Sahara

Well, pre-Sahara. The actual Sahara killed my camera!
Just getting around to uploading a few of my pics from a trip to Morocco. My friends Jon and Kate have some amazing pics from the same trip:

Montenegro, approaching Albania
09 Aug 2010 |

Shortly before the Albanian border, the Montenegrins have made their part of the shores of Lake Shkodra into a nature reserve. Ideal for over-nighting!
This photo is from the set "Albania — Jane's photos", all of which are from the Aid Convoy preliminary trip to Bathore / Kamza, near Tirana, Albania, where we resurrected our project there.
This set – readily identified by the lack of a black border around each photo – shows photos not taken by me, but by my colleague Jane. I don't normally upload other people's photos but these are here to complete the story when seen in conjunction with mine (with black borders), in the "Albania 2010" set.

First morning above the snow line. Roof tent keeps its occupants nicely cosy. It's also a near-perfect fit on this roof. I think it somehow looked more in-keeping on the Disco, but it needed a really high full roof rack there. On the LC I've gotten away with some Thule bars. Just don't ask about the weight limit. Let's just say it only allows for svelte people!
This is the start of a set of photos from Aid Convoy's 2010 Albania trip. The photos in this set were taken by my colleague Jane. I don't normally upload other people's photos, but they're here to complete the story of the trip. You can identify Jane's photos by the lack of the black border which I add to my own. My own photos from this trip are the separate "Albania 2010" set, "later" in the photostream.
If you got here by any means other than the "set", please see this set in the correct chronological order (rather than the reverse way flickr does things) by going to the set: Jane's Albania photos . Please note that my own photos from the trip are also available in another set.
