Birkenhead Priory

(And a clichéd car shot!)

From Birkenhead Priory's yard. The expansion of the docks cost the parish most of the housing which the church here served, and later cost the church its graveyard, and then its purpose, since the community had been moved along! The ancient (11th Century or so) priory at the site is, however, now a museum, and its chapel is in use again.

(Should you want to know where this is, the geo-tagged location is only done from memory, and may be a little out. But leave Richelieu, head north, and avoid the toll roads. It isn't too far.)

Radio days

I'd love to know when that radio last played. (Should you want to know where this is, the geo-tagged location is only done from memory, and may be a little out. But leave Richelieu, head north, and avoid the toll roads. It isn't too far.)

(Should you want to know where this is, the geo-tagged location is only done from memory, and may be a little out. But leave Richelieu, head north, and avoid the toll roads. It isn't too far.) We think the gateposts might be a relic of the Cardinal's estate, given the style and type of stone; tragically his house was taken apart by an estate agent in the early 19th Century - not even for political reasons - and much of the fabric is no doubt re-used in the surrounding area.
