Some of the cottages and other buildings found in the grounds of the Cowdray House Ruins, on the Cowdray Estate, Midhurst, West Sussex. The small building on the right is a store house (hat was probably used for grain). The little mushroom-like legs it's standing on are called Staddle Stones and were designed to help guard against water seepage and vermin. Better viewed large for detail. Taken yesterday on the Cowdray Estate, Nr Midhurst, West Sussex. The little green thing in the water is a duck house. The folly was built as a memorial to the Third Viscount of Cowdray who died in 2000.

Cowdray House (or Cowdray Ruins as it is now known) stands in the grounds of the Cowdray Estate, Midhurst, West Sussex and is the remains of one of England's most important Tudor houses. In 1793 it caught fire which destroyed most of the property. Except for work to make it safe it remained that way until March 2007 when it opened to the public after works funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage, the Cowdray Estate and the local community. Situated in the grounds of the Cowdray Estate, Midhurst, West Sussex this has also been known as the Round House or Round Tower. It used to house a water tank which supplied the water for the nearby Cowdray House. Nowadays it is a private residence . Best viewed large, on black.
