Taken in my garden............the bee is about to land on one of my Salvia flowers.

This is what I would call an "if only" shot..................in this case, "if only" I had used a faster shutter speed..!! Even shooting at 1/2000 sec wan't fast enough to freeze its wing movement...............the nearest wing is beating so fast you can't even see it! Better viewed large if you want :-)

Captured during a walk around Hilsea, near Portsmouth. Someone had thrown some bread in one of the ponds and this gull managed to get some before it ran out!

Nice to be be able to upload photos again.............it's been awhile. Like most of you we're currently in in lockdown again and the spread of Covid 19 in the UK is worse now that it's ever been and our movements and chances for social interaction outside our own household are very limited. Hence I will be posting a lot of "not so recently" taken photos. On the plus side, I have a new lens to play with (an Olympus 100-400 f5-6.3mm zoom lens). I'm in the process of learning how to use it properly, These birds are Dunlin - it's not the sharpest photo, but I like the feeling of movement and speed it invokes. Everyone seems to be posting bee-in-flight images lately, so I thought I'd add another photo today with mine. Taken at some waste land near my house.

Taken this afternoon at Langstone Harbour.

This was the lucky result of me hitting the shutter button by mistake whilst panning across the top of a building trying to get a shot of a duck in flight. No skill involved at all. Just needed a bit of a crop and straightening up etc. :-))

Whilst at WWT Arundel this cormorant flew over our heads (very low) and quite unexpectedly........I just managed to get the camera pointing in the right direction and grab a few shots. Not brilliant, but better than nothing!

Caught this chap just as he was coming in to land.

I think I missed the focus on this one slightly, but I still like it because it's my best capture yet of the bee's wings in action!
