A grey day, but pretty nonetheless. Somewhere near Platteville.

Boyer Road

This is a few miles from my home. I was aiming to photograph the daylilies but the entire picture came out quite nicely. I particularly like the corn fields bracketing the road up ahead. I've spent the last three days in nearly continuous meetings at a convention in Toronto; it's been an excellent weekend, but you've already seen my best shots of Toronto and I'm sure you don't want to see the pictures I've been taking of seminar presenters and committee chairmen. I'm ready to head home, and ride the bike again.

Two farms, on the highest point in the neighborhood. This is about a mile out of town and both places can be seen from my yard. Both families are actively farming. The barn on the left is now gone and has been replaced with a pole barn.

A Hazy Morning

Same location and camera as this morning's Commuters , but a couple minutes earlier and with a different lens. Seems worth extending the recent discussion about my slightly-fisheyed porch photo : Did anyone think of this morning's image as distorted? I can remember a time I would have, but that time was half a century ago. These days I mostly don't notice that sort of foreshortening....

Thornapple Valley

When you reach the east end of Needmore Highway you likely turn south, and are rewarded with this view. This was generally the highlight of my drive to work, but I'd admired the view long before I moved to Mulliken. A couple miles out--just beyond the more distant farmyards--Otto Road dips yet again, down to the river. When I was a serious bicyclist my most strenuous workouts involved those climbs. Nowadays I mostly avoid hills, which is pretty easy around here. You could turn north, but Otto and Needmore both jog, and the left turn's a bit off the line. A north turn takes you to the RC plane airport . ========== The 366 Snaps pix were attempts to capture the falling snow in an image; most failed. ========== This photograph is a non-outtake from my 2012 photo-a-day project, 366 Snaps . Number of project photos taken: 19 Title of " roll :" Snow in the Banana Republic [ a comment on Michigan's then-newly-signed "RTW" law, about which I'm still angry ] Other photos taken on 12/11/2012: Two "Sky Shots," one of which is displayed above.
