Audie Blaylock's band's a bit less stable than most bluegrass bands, but the version he brought to the Charlotte, Michigan, festival in 2013 was immensely talented.
Banjo: Russ Carson, now with Ricky Skaggs.
Fiddle: Patrick McAvinue, now with Dailey and Vincent; also with Charm City Junction. 2017 IBMA fiddler of the year.
Bass: Jason Moore, now with Sideline, previously with Mountain Heart.
Guitar: Audie Blaylock, previously with Jimmy Martin and Rhonda Vincent. And other bands.
Mandolin: Jesse Brock, now with Fast Track; formerly with Michael Cleveland, later with the Gibson Brothers. Twice IBMA mando player of the year.

Debbie (my sister), Joan (my wife), and Richard (my brother), walking along the harbor (St Joseph River) channel in St. Joseph, Michigan. We were heading to the pier on Lake Michigan. 8/24/2013.
Yesterday my sister posted a little essay to Facebook that mostly described a phone call we'd had the day before--just keeping in touch; no substance to the call. The essay also talked about her cat, vocalizing, but the note was mostly about reaching out to friends and family.
She attached a photograph she'd taken on this visit to St. Joseph, of Joan and Dick and me, on the pier, with the lighthouse on the other pier in sight. I almost immediately added this photo in the comments; soon Joan chipped in with an image she'd taken during this visit. 'Twas a fine, and well documented, afternoon.
Anyway, here's to better times. And to memories.

The Lansing Lugnuts were scheduled to open their home season today, against the Dayton Dragons at what they used to call Oldmobile Park. I was planning to be there, in my favorite seat (that would be Section N, Row 4, Seat 8--directly behind the visiting team's dugout). But of course they're not playing, so we'll settle for this photo from a Lansing/Dayton game on 4/23/2013.
The batter's Seth Mejias-Brean, and the catcher is Santiago Nessy. (Sorry; haven't got the ump's name at my fingertips; I photographed the game but didn't score it--which is unusual. [Ted Turocy tells me it's Blake Mickelson.]) My next two photos show that this swing resulted in a popup, but I don't know where it landed or whether someone caught it.

Missy and the rest of Detour will be doing what's being billed as a Reunion at the Milan (MI) Bluegrass Festival one week from today. Milan's Saturday lineup is strong, and for most of us 'twill be our first chance to see Balsam Range up close. I'm really looking forward to that.
But for many the day's highlight will be Detour. They've been away for two summers. We've missed 'em.

Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out will be playing at this year's Charlotte (MI) Bluegrass Festival on Friday, June 22.
Wayne Benson's been a member of IIIrd Tyme Out for most of its existence--and 3TO's played at the Charlotte festival most summers since the band was formed. That's lead singer/guitarist Russell Moore beyond Wayne, and Steve Dilling--now with Sideline, as we've seen--beyond Russell.
I've seen these guys a lot. There's no band I like better.
Photo taken 6/21/2013 at Charlotte.

At the Charlotte (MI) Bluegrass Festival, last June. I do believe he's spotted me.
Edgar played bass for IIIrd Tyme Out for nearly seven years. Since I took this photo he's set out on his own, in partnership with Dave Adkins .
