Front room in the basement. In Dickens's time this would have been the kitchen and only used by the servants. It now contains about 250 feet of shelving containing copies of different editions, translations and adaptations of Dickens's works.

Dickens's third novel, written in Doughty St. Originally published in 20 monthly numbers between 31 March 1838 and 1 October 1939, the last number being a double one.
