This Greek Revival building is the second-ever bank in Illinois, about two blocks down from the first one. This is the John Marshall Bank, the first bank chartered in Illinois, in 1816. (Illinois didn't become a state until 1818 - 200 years ago - we're celebrating our bi-centennial.)
