Spires and Turbines.

The town end of the large harbour at Girvan, South Ayshire, showing the trawler Argonaut on the shipyard slipway, and the RNLI lifeboat mooring center of image. The spire on the left is the North Parish Church and the right hand tower is Stumpy Jail, it was built in 1827. It has survived 2 World Wars and is still standing as a tribute to the craftsmanship of its Victorian Builders. In 16.9 format therefor a large view will probably be required for detail, HFF and a good weekend.

The wooden trawler "Freebird" under extensive overhaul at Alexander Noble & Sons Limited, Girvan, Scotland, Unable to find any information on the trawler so she may have had a name change. The River in the foreground is "Girvan Water" and the image is taken form a pontoon adjacent to the Lifeboat Station. HFF and a good weekend to everyone. A large view may be better and see pip for a closer view.

Race for Home

Storm crossing the Minch and heading for the Isle of Skye as a trawler heads for harbour

A Croft House, Isle of Skye.

With no money to import materials the crofters of the island used whatever materials were available to build a home, stones that were nearby, driftwood for roof timbers often provided by the many shipwrecks and rushes for the roof covering, walls were around three feet thick and windows kept to a minimum with a peat fire for light and heat. The distant island to right of the image is Fladda-Chuin, A submarine grounded on the island in 2002 and caused damage to the hull that cost an estimated £5 million pounds to repair. Stay safe but have a HFF A large view if you are able please

Up the Creek, A lady just contemplating the view at the point the Allt a Gleannain watercourse flows into Loch na Beiste, Kyleakin, Isle of Skye. The elderly trawler is laid up and under repair, This is the second in a casual series of forgotten images from the archives this one is from Autumn 2017 and maybe not the best quality mainly because of the very bright sun but it's an image I like. Large please if possible.
