An image from 2011 showing Stac Pollaidh, often called Stac Polly, The English translation, Is "The pinnacle of pool river" it has a height 612m (2008ft) The rocky crest is of Torridon sandstone and is a nunatak, (the ridge was above the ice during the last Ice age) which is why the sides are smooth, and the ridge has many pinnacles. October on Somerset's Quantock Hills and a late afternoon walk in peace and quiet along the popular Lydeard hill ridge, The fence is to keep free roaming ponies from the step drops into the Vale otherwise the area left as semi wild habitat.
