Somerset Cross

Church of St Mary's Stogumber, Somerset, This cross probably marked the place where the gospel was first preached in the village, the base and shaft being ancient though the rest is Victorian. HWW!

The Red Tower

For over six centuries, The church of St Mary the Virgin, has been the focal point of the village of Stogumber, The tower which was begun in the fourteenth century, is built of red sandstone, but differing styles indicate church extensions over the years! Stogumber is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, on the eastern flank of the Brendon Hills. It also has a station on the West Somerset Railway. A large view for detail! Captured on a dull and overcast September day, HWW to one and all!

On a gloomy day

Lovely light despite the gloomy sky, This is the Church of St Mary the Virgin at Stogumber from the churchyard elevation, Main entrance is from the other side but I preferred this view mainly for the sky and the light on the red sandstone tower.
