Apparently a radio link has replaced the original landline for comms back to Train Control. January 2013.

Border Tunnel 4 showing hut and mast. Sometime since construction the landline link has been replaced with a radio circuit. The UHF yagi antenna, I guess, is using the fixed point service variant of the Telstra 3G mobile system.
