Rhys

Sunday afternoon at the surf club in Noosa. It was packed as the TV Today Show was in town and the hosts were expected there. I asked if we could use the spare seats at his table and he obliged. His friend Daniel came back with beers and we had a chat. I started taking photos and Rhys was happy to participate in my Strangers project. Later I took a few portraits of Rhys with the TV show hosts :-) Rhys was working up in Darwin for a while, and is now a Barber working in Noosa at Cartel. He has lived in Noosa before, and loves it. This is the 47th portrait in my 100 Strangers project.

Spontaneous capture of fellow photographer on the launching ramp in Tewantin on the Noosa River. So many Pelicans there today, hoping for fish scraps from the fishermen.

I met Steve at the Noosa Surf Festival Tiki Bar on the Beach. He is a Noosa local, loves the area, and loves to surf. He has been manufacturing surf boards for 15 years and has his own business doing this. He makes all shapes and sizes of unique wooden surf boards and paddle boards, having a passion for lines, curves and flow. He also likes working in other areas, helping out friends occasionally in their businesses. Read more about Steve at woodensurfboardsshapesbysteveo.com.au Stranger 04 (2013)

Michelle and Panda

I went to the RSPCA Noosa Shelter on Wednesday hoping to photograph a cat for the feline topic in the project 113 photos in 2013. Michelle kindly assisted me in taking photos of a handsome cat called Dave. She then suggested we could go to the outside pen and try some photos of Panda. I went inside but Panda was very friendly, and continuously on the move. I asked Michelle if she could hold him. She obliged and asked what the project was about. I explained it and also mentioned the 100 Strangers project and asked if she would mind having her photo on the Internet She laughed and said yes as she hadn't told me her name at that stage, so was still a stranger. It was kind of her to help as they were very busy. I asked a few questions. She said that she lived locally and had worked at the shelter for the last 7 and a half years and loved the job. She added that she couldn't do it without the help of the volunteers. She told me that there are 4 paid staff and 50 volunteers and they operate 7 days a week. The manager has worked there for 20 years. Thanks very much Michelle for participating. It was lovely to meet you. What a great job the RSPCA does.
