Watching sparrows

From a while ago, when the sparrows had chicks. The little ones all made it, but for the next brood we have moved the birdhouse house up on the balcony where the cats can't watch as closely... Wonder how many they are?

If you look carefully you'll see the beeks of two chicks on the left picture. I don't know how many there are, but 4 or 5 is the usual - and statisticly only one of these will survive until next year. Almost ready to leave...

One of the chick looking out from the nest, while the mother bird is watching from above. They are almost as big as her now, so it won't be many more days before they are ready to fly off. Chick and female House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), 29.05.2014 Olympus E-400 Digital Camera.

Last day in the nest

01 Jun 2014 93
The day before the sparrow chicks flew off the nest. Almost as big as the mother bird, who did all she could to convince them that it was about time to test their wings. Now they have moved to the neighbouring gardens, where the parents will continue feeding them for some days.
