Lingmoor wall

21 Apr 2006 139
This beautiful wall runs along most of the ridge of Lingmoor Fell. It is made of slate from the local quarries on the fell.

Stool End wall

Stone wall at Stool End Farm, at the head of Great Langdale. The stones are mostly rounded cobbles and boulders, probably from out of the nearby Langdale Beck.

Stone fence

This 'fence' is made from rough-hewn slabs of Ashover Grit (Namurian), and divides the fields from the ancient stone-slabbed track, just SW of Ashover, Derbyshire.

Green wall 3

20 Jan 2016 1 201
The overcast lighting really brought out the colour of the algae-covered dry-stone wall on Fenny Lane, Whirlow Hall Farm, Sheffield. This particular section of wall is beautifully constructed from the locally quarried flaggy sandstone of the Rough Rock (Namurian).

Sun on Sir William

25 Mar 2008 166
Late afternoon sunshine lights up the fields separated by the drystone walls on the eastern slopes of Sir William Hill near Grindleford, Derbyshire. I really liked the lighting and geometry of these Enclosure Acts walls and fields, and the textures of the bare trees. Viewed from Hay Wood quarries above Nether Padley.
