In Western Massachusetts. I must have passed through here when I lived in the area years ago, but I never realized that Westfield, Mass is known as "The Whip City." The moniker derives for the fact that at one point in time it was the center of the buggy whip industry in the U.S. Makes most sense if viewed as part of Coming Out/Northeast set
