Fruit merchants of Hells Canyon. The story of two men who together maintained fruit orchards that supplied local miners. Buried together. From what I could piece together, one of them had a wife at one time, but much of their adult lives were together at the orchard.

There was an interesting trail along the river, about two miles in length. The ranger had described it as easy, but there was a fair amount of scrambling. What probably made it relatively miserable is that the temperature in the sun was over 100 and as soon as you hit a shady spot you would be surrounded by swarms of mosquitos.

Hells Canyon Dam. It is furthermost downstream of three dams built by Idaho Power. None of the dams were built with fish ladders, thus this dam is the effective end point for any fish (e.g., salmon) who go upriver to spawn.
