Connel Bridge and Benches

Connel Bridge, Connel, Argyll. This bridge was constructed in 1903 as a single track railway bridge. It also carried a single track road which vehicles were permitted across when not in use by the railway. In 1966 the railway was closed and the bridge is still used by vehicles with a track for cyclists and pedestrians. Beneath the bridge where the Firth of Lorn falls below the water level of Loch Etive freshwater rapids known as the Falls of Lora are created by the ebb tide. This is an image from 2016.
