Sannick Bay Dunes

Situated between John O Groats and Duncansby Head Lighthouse, Sannick Bay is a beautiful and remote beach with white sand and gorgeous views across the Pentland Firth to Stroma on the left and Orkney slightly to the right. In the forground sheep graze on the grass beside the cut through caused by Sannick Burn as it makes it way to the sea,
Pentland Firth is where the Atlantic and the North Sea meet and it separates Caithness from Orkney. It is a particularly dangerous stretch of water with whirlpools , fast flowing tides and powerful currents.
From Sannick Bay you may, if you are lucky, see seal pups in the winter and very occasionally an orca. Even if you don't you can enjoy the beauty of this gorgeous beach.

Captured at Cedar Avenue Butleigh, Somerset on a wet and dreary October day. The grazing sheep seem oblivious to the weather. I liked the colours in the trees and the leaves scattered across the fields. On the right in the distance is Glastonbury Tor.
The images in the PiPs are also from Cedar Avenue. I liked the dramatic look of the dead cedar and the way it seemed to echo the dreariness of the day
A Room With A View! (PiPs)

Captured at Bettyhill and this is one of my favourite views with beautiful beaches and rivers, and lush grazing for the sheep, a few of which seem to have claimed this ruined building as their own!!
The river directly in front of you is the River Naver and it is joined by the River Borgie on the other side of the sandbar as they both flow into Torresdale Bay. The beach is Torresdale Beach.
A peaceful scene that makes me happy, - and I wish you all a Happy Fence Friday and a good weekend.
As these lucky sheep have wonderful views from their 'home' I have added a song called
'A Room With A View' sung by Paul McCartney

As this is in 16.9 this is probably best viewed large for the best effect.

Black faced sheep on Skye. Their Ear Tags looked a bit like earrings so I have added 'The Earring Song' by Gretchen Wilson. The lyrics - 'Don't Make Me Take My Earrings Out' made me smile, just as these curious sheep did.

Sheep crossing the road on the Quantocks - it looks as if mum was teaching them how to cross safely (- the Green Cross Code for those who can remember being taught it!)
