In lou of some real snow and after our Task Day at Alexandra park yesterday, decided to get up early (for me) and get some macros of the frosticles..
These are actually tubes rather than solid shards, with Hexagonal shape. Basically the fringy looking frost on edges of leaves and grass close up.

Not sure if these would be anything besides the squares and rectangles they are here, but most seem four sided and solid, except that one noted is growing more like the fringes.

This and the previous photo have the 'snow flake' look about them, but I discovered there are many shapes to Frost :)

I think this maybe what they call 'Hoar Frost' although from what I read the tempeture wasn't cold enough. Hoar Frost is leaf shaped.

This is hard to get a shot of any of the individual shapes but I think you can see the lovely feathers in it.

Maybe Hoar Frost but I'd rather name it Feathered Frost :)

This is frost on tiny moss, I really liked the shapes sorta snowflaky/hexagony..
