Crambidae, Spilomelinae Wingspan: 30mm. A widespread common Pyralid in Europe, often migrating in large numbers, some arriving along the south coastal areas of the UK. Only one appeared in our trapping sessions at this site. Although this specimen is fairly plainly coloured, many of the wing areas in some specimens are darker brown, almost black, making quite distinctive patterning.

Just a single specimen arrived at our first overnight trapping session during our stay. This species is also a resident in some southern coastal areas of the UK, particularly Cornwall.

Crambidae, Spilomelinae Wingspan: 35mm. A pretty almost all-white Pyralid which is widespread throughout Europe and also an occasional migrant to the UK. Worn specimens tend to lose their scales easily making the wings almost transparent. Just one arrived at our first night's trap at this site.
