Magic Ray Valentine

An Art Deco mechanical valentine (moving the cape causes the arms to move up and down) from the 1930s. Sort of scary--hope she was able to escape!
You built a wall
So fast and strong,
But with my magic ray
It won't last long!
Queen of the Universe Valentine

An Art Deco mechanical valentine (moving the arm causes the eyes to move back and forth) from the 1930s. This reminds me of Slim Pickens riding the bomb down to the ground at the end of Dr. Strangelove .
"Queen of the Universe"
We seem so far apart--
Please aim your trusty rocket
Directly for my heart!

Happy Easter from Chick-Chick Easter Egg Dyes

"Happy Easter. Cut along the blue outline, stick toothpick through both blue dots, pinning them together, and see the baby chick hatched. Chick-Chick Easter Dyes, the Children's Delight."
This small insert came with packets of Chick-Chick Easter Dyes and allowed children to assemble a simple paper toy.
A Naughty Little Girl

"I'm a naughty little girl, and I don't care what I show.
Just raise this little flap and you will see. It's so!"
Be forewarned--I usually don't post stuff like this! But scroll down to see this postcard with the flap raised, if you dare!

Hope You Develop a Liking for Me (Camera Valentine…

"I shall be candid with you, Valentine. You're so snappy. Hope you develop a liking for me."
A mechanical valentine. Moving the boy's head alternately displays "Valentine," "You're so snappy," and a girl's face in the lens of the camera, and the final position also reveals a heart with the message, "Hope you develop a liking for me."
I suspect that this card dates to the 1960s, when the television show Candid Camera was at the height of its popularity.
