This house at Manhufe was where the painter was born in 1887 and lived until the age of 18. After moving to France he only came there occasionally to see his family. Now it is private property (no longer of the painter's family) and all we can see is from outside the entrance line.

The painter's mother died in 1954, after carrying 36 years of grief for her son's death, being buried very near from him, at Mancelos cemetery.

Here, at Mancelos cemetery, lies the painter who died in 1918 at the age of 30, victim of the pneumonic flu pandemic.

On a container housing Barros Tobacco Shop, where newspapers and magazines are also sold. It is located on General Silveira Avenue, Amarante, and this photo is only possible when it is closed. Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (1887-1918) was born in Amarante council, studied Fine Arts in Lisbon, and moved to Paris when he was 18. He was in touch with many modernist painters, like Amedeo Modigliani, and he produced a lot of paintings and drawings in his short life - he died without completing 31 years of age, victim of the pneumonic pandemic.
