light through glass

Another version of an image of a stained glass window in Ste. Radegonde Church at Lafleche, with more detail of the light coming through the stained glass elements.

Sainte Radegonde - West window

A view of the stained glass window on the west side of Sainte Radagonde Church at Lafleche, Saskatchewan. The late morning sun was intense, so I had to lower the light level in post-processing.

Sainte Radegonde - West window

An image of a stained glass window in Sainte Radegonde Church at Lafleche, Saskatchewan. This was taken in the late morning, so the window was in the shade. It took some gentle editing to render the window as I remembered it.

Whose Name Was John

A stained glass window in St. Thomas Anglican church at Vernon, about an hour's drive east of Regina, Saskatchewan. Services such as weddings and funerals are occasionally held in the church, but there is no community within several kilometres of the church site.

A stained glass window in St. Thomas Anglican Church at Vernon, memorializing a former member of the congregation, who is buried in the cemetery beside the church.

She Hath Done What She Could

12 May 2024 1 2 35
A stained glass window in St. Thomas Anglican church at Vernon, a community that no longer exists, except in memory and on old maps. The window memorializes a lady in an older form of English, similar to what you might find in the King James version of the Bible.

Descent of the Holy Spirit - detail

13 Mar 2022 1 36
The Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church in Regina is located on a narrow street, making it difficult to capture the building without a lot of distracting powerlines and tree branches. This image shows the stained glass above the entry doors.

Window, All Saints, Watrous

24 Jan 2022 2 2 47
The stained glass windows in the west wall of All Saints Church in Watrous, Saskatchewan, bathed in afternoon light. The windows were first installed in the east wall of this church, and moved to the west wall later. The windows originally came from a church in England, shipped across the ocean to Watrous.

open to meditation

I admire artisans who create scenes and images from pieces of coloured glass. Bright sunlight streaming through a stained glass window, into a near-empty church, creates a reflective mood.

All Saints, Watrous

This stained glass is more than 500 years old, although the church in Watrous is just over 100 years old. The window was removed from a church in England during Puritan times, then re-installed, and then removed again and presented to the first pastor at All Saints in Watrous, who transported the window in 2000 pieces to Saskatchewan.
