By Ward and Hughes, commemorating John Hailstone, "the founder of this church", who died in 1871. Lode was a settlement in the parish of Bottisham, adjacent to the lode which connected the village with the River Cam, and had no medieval church. The church at Lode was built as a chapel of ease to Bottisham church; Hailstone, who was vicar of Bottisham, gave £1,090 of the £1,765 cost of building, and £710 of the c. £1,000 raised to provide £40 yearly for the permanent curate whom he employed there [ www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/cambs/vol10/pp215-220 ].

Built 1852-3 to designs of Rohde Hawkins . The roof was replaced in 1886-7. The house, known as the Old Mangle, was formerly a public house.

Built in 1855 for a congregation of Calvinistic Particular Baptists which had seceded from the village's former Baptist congregation as it moved towards Independency (it had been formally reconstituted as an Independent congregation in 1841). The City of Refuge remained in use into the 1870s, but was seldom open by 1885; it reopened in 1925 but had long been closed when it was sold by the Cambridge Baptists in 1970.
