Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AF-D lens on a Nikon D2Xs, which provided a field of view equivalent to 75mm on full frame. I've cropped it a bit too. 100 ISO and f/4. I ought simply to superglue this lens to a camera. The results are often far superior to other lenses.

Public Inconvenience

In 2016 the BBC reported that some UK High Streets and public spaces no longer had any council-run public toilets. This photograph is a record of a closed public lavatory in Melksham, Wiltshire. It is situated between a public recreation ground and shops, and is adjacent to a car park. A funfair sometimes sets up attractions in the part of this car park closest to the toilets. There is no legal requirement for local authorities to provide public lavatories. Relentless pressure on council spending has resulted in many closures. At the time of the report, at least 1,782 facilities had been closed across the UK during the previous decade. Ten areas, including Newcastle, Merthyr Tydfil in south Wales and Wandsworth in south London, had no council-run public toilets at all. Public toilets have existed on UK High Streets for more than 150 years. They are vital for public health and decency. The absence of these amenities is felt especially hard by the elderly, people who drive for a living, and the homeless.

Bath, Somerset: a wet day at the start of August. Nikon D50 + Tamron AF Zoom 55-200mm f/4-5.6 lens. The detail of the 2012 visit to the city by Kristjana and Hauke was picked out with the aid of a Minolta Close-Up Lens No.1 screwed into the filter ring.

Nikon D50 and AF Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6 G lens. The Nikon 28-80mm G lens weighs seven ounces (190g) and is a testament to what can be done with 21st century plastics technology and sticky tape. It is capable of delivering exceptionally good performance. It was available new from 2001-2006 and supplied as the kit lens with Nikon’s entry level 35mm film cameras, and so it will work with both APS-C and full frame digital Nikons. It won’t auto-focus on Nikon’s entry DSLR’s, because they lack a built-in focus motor to drive this lens. It boasts a compound aspherical element. I don’t know what that is, but it seems to work nicely. I paid £25 for mine, second-hand. It was the second copy I’d bought. I sold the first and missed its capability to deliver nice photographs.
