Hyldagarde New Edit

A photograph taken in February, 2018, and edited afresh. What prompted me to do this was catching a glimpse of the picture whilst organising an album for photographs made using a Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6 G lens.

This was shot with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 [II] on an EOS 40D. ISO was 400 and the aperture was f/9ish, with a speed of 1/180th. When the kit lens is closed down it performs quite crisply.

Tiller Girl (B&W)

Kennet and Avon Canal, Wiltshire. John Tiller invented precision dancing in 1890. The dancers linked arms and kept strictly synchronised routines, often including high kicks. All canal narrowboats are steered by a rudder connected to a tiller. It looks easy but it takes practice and a good eye to anticipate the necessary adjustment. This girl was manoeuvring her boat into position to enter a lock. She did it with aplomb. 'Aplomb' is an unusual word. It is, however, easier to spell than 'manoeuvring'. Words derived from French can be challenging to spell correctly. Canon EOS 40D.
