The sandy shore of lac des Deux Montagnes in the Le parc national d'Oka, Quebec. A sunny day early in autumn. This is about halfway between two beaches with very different occupants. The beach in front, across the bay is a family-oriented beach. Roughly the same distance in the opposite direction behind the photo is a beach that is used mostly by nudists.

A yellow bellied sapsucker. A woodpecker that feeds on the sap of trees (and can do quite a lot of damage). The yellow belly seems to be misleading, as there is only a hint of yellow on the shoulder.

The summer has irretrievably slipped into the first days of autumn, the trees are still full of leaves but they are slowly starting to yellow.

. A White-tailed deer -Cerf de Virginie-(Odocoileus virginianus) from parc St Bruno, a provincial Park about thirty or forty minutes outside Montreal. I think this one was still quite young. . The park deer are remarkably docile near humans, but they are terrified of dogs. If a dog takes an interest in them they panic, crash through the bushes and make spectacular leaps across open spaces.
