Watson : 47ft : The Robert {ON 955} - looking at the stern Built 1960 at a cost of £35,500.00. Served in all four nations :- Broughty Ferry [Scotland] - 1960 to 1978 ; converted to fully self-righting in 1976/77 ; Baltimore [Ireland] 1978 to 1984 ; Lytham St Annes [England] 1985 to 1988 ; Beaumaris [Wales] 1989 to 1991 . Probably her most famous service was in 1979, she was the first lifeboat launched to the rescue during Fastnet Race disaster, she was on service for over 24 hours. The station displays a special framed certificate of thanks for the 1979 Fastnet Race service. Sold out of service in 1992, and now berths in Kingswear, Devon [largely unaltered as a pleasure boat].
