agp - LNWR Poster

A somewhat idealised view of the Aberglaslyn Pass used by the LNWR as publicity material. . I've been trying to relate that to the modern world ... I know where I think it is, which means the artist has somewhat romanticised the location. Not my Image : fair use & public education

From another [fairly] reliable source, which confirms that this is the Ratgoed Tramway horse and a rake of waggons loaded with finished slabs at the Aberllefenni Slate Works [dated April 1948]. Note the beams and tensioned wires to hold the slabs on the waggon framework. {Scanned image from book / periodical} . Not my Image : fair use & public information

oaw - Glaslyn family tree

20 Mar 2023 52
An updated chart - produced by the Glaslyn project" showing the breeding success of MrsG at Glaslyn, North Wales. Since 2004 she has produced 50 chicks, some of which have survived to breed themselves - indeed, there are now some "great grand chicks" that have been re-sighted [well, one seen in Senegal in 2022]. So, MrsG has hatched 50 chicks with two different males ... Of these 16 have been known to survive to breeding age [or their first out-migration]. Between them, they have produced approximately 130 chicks [the grand-chicks]. of these, five are known to have bred, producing a dozen great grand chicks [one of which was seen in Senegal in 2022]. Bear in mind, not every chick is ringed, and not every breeding pair is monitored - the "net" has some very large holes in it - there are something like 250 breeding pairs in the UK alone. [and not every chick returns to breed in the UK, some migrate / breed in other areas of Europe]. That is an exceptional achievement ! NOT MY IMAGE : FAIR USE & PUBLIC INFORMATION
