About as photogenic as the concrete dam at Cow Green Reservoir ever gets. [In my opinion, this is about as ugly as a dam can be, especially given the wild beauty of the moorland setting] The pass valve is set to discharge a minimum flow rate, to maintain the downstream river environment.

The original buildings are a water mill (Eskdale Mill, dating from 1578), the leat has been altered to supply a new, exterior wheel. (Micro HEP), This is between the village of Boot and the site of the 3ft gauge railway station. Well worth a visit.

This discreet [non-descript] building caught my eye & ear as we walked past. It was emitting a sort of rushing & humming sound, not at all loudly. It is the power station for Dolgoch Falls. Micro-HEP plant installed capacity is 100kW & commissioned in 2015
