Trevor Stockton, RER's general manager, escorts the special guest from the operational railway, were he had just been treated to a footplate trip on Northern Rock, across to the new museum.

Paul Atterbury also unveiled a commemorative slate plaque, which is sitting on a restored porter's "sack truck" (instead of the more usual easel).

Peter Hensman OBE (R&ER Co Chair) gave an introductory speech, thanking (by name) the vast majority of those who had contributed to the re-birth of the Ravenglass Railway Museum. This includes financial ie grants or major donations and physically, such as the volunteers and special contractors who had worked on various aspects of the building and the exhibits within. Lastly, he introduced and handed over to Paul Atterbury.

Paul was kind enough to spend some time with the invited guests, whilst exploring the exhibits. He paused for a short sit down in the Big Saloon and discussed the restoration process with two of the people who built the replica into the museum.
