The original foundation dates from around 1500 AD, but has a very checkered history, inc suppression / demolition by the Nazis in 1944. Rebuilt after 1996.

Coffee or Tea breaks in the free time between sessions ...
One of the areas, normally occupied by students, now hosting esperantists.
To be quite honest, those benches did not encourage you to linger, they were hard and the back was square to the seat.

The hedges in the fore ground are part of a "Knot Garden" - formal designs, best viewed from an elevated position, the paths were frequently used as areas for walking by guests during social events, as well as by members of the host household.

I saw a lot of these in Poland. They seem to be what the British call "Living Vans" which were used traditionally by steam roller and traction engine crews during periods of peripatetic work. Travelling between work sites (farms) and staying for a week or two before moving on to the next, used as a form of mobile mess hut and combined with an overnight caravan.
