From the large fins, I think we're looking at a 500cc single, paired with a Canterbury sidecar. {regno NGK 553}

Sidecar outfits were a popular means of transporting what were relatively heavy machine guns and their ammunition in both world wars. The far 'bike is typical of the WW1 solution for a Vickers or Lewis gun - with their water jacket & ammo - plus the sidecar has some limited protection for the gunner. [note that the headlamp is not blacked out on either 'bike] The nearer bike is a Norton, also with some protection for the gunner [although that looks more like a "bren" to me] {& that's a civilian regno, the army no is on the tank}

Just inside the museum lobby was this sight. Well-covered over 'bike, no back wheel and an interesting sidecar. Unfortunately, I didn't snap the info-card, so no idea what's going on ...

exhibit MC08 Ariel outfit, 500cc HT5 with a small, open sidecar. {built 1957, regno NX 208} In the background are autocycles / BSA winged wheels [with the engine in the back wheel] Late entries so not in the handbook and their cards are partially obscuring the regnos. MC47 / KF???8 : MC48 / KS ??? : MC49 / SEO ???

Large "flat twin" with the sidecar mounted to the right. I strongly suspect that this is a "Ural" ... some years old, and I like the sidecar panelling / paint job. {ID unconfirmed as not in the rally handbook, I have a strong feeling / idea that I have seen this outfit previously.}

Panther "Sloper" in normal use, as an outfit, with a "double adult" sidecar. regno GBR 539 There'll be plenty of power to bowl along at a decent speed, whether that's the 600 or 650 version, both are very slow-revving engines - there used to be a joke about them firing every third telegraph pole.

Brough Superior SS80 as an outfit, probably paired with an "Alpine" sidecar [also a B.S. product} - often regarded as the Rolls-Royce of Motorcycles ! [The SS80 was a 1,000 cc side-valve V-twin engine from either J.A.P. or Matchless, some 1,086 were built between 1922 and 1940, this example dates from 1937] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brough_Superior
