Matetti, cioè I PICCOLI (giovani, fanciulli...), in dialetto savonese. Questi sono infatti piccoli carciofi (della varietà ligure) che crescono sulle diramazioni del fusto principale e che spesso vengono tolti per lasciare al carciofo che si trova all'apice tutto il nutrimento per crescere. Sono comunque buoni, adatti a fare conserve sottolio. Da notare che si tratta di un bocciolo o capolino floreale ! Barlia Robertiana in Liguria, Italy, the first wild orchid appearing in early spring, now a month earlier than past year... Everything about this orchid is big, from the robust stem, the large leaves that clasp the stem, and the large flowers that are arranged in a dense spike. The strongly fragrant flowers are very variable in colour, from white-and-green combinations to dark pink and purple with strong lip markings.
