A 1970s North Bridge trackscape. A telephoto shot of Doncaster station's north end prior to electrification & resignalling of the ECML. I have a postcard bought at the station in the late 1960s with a similar picture to this but from the southern approach. Written across the picture is the caption "A Few Lines from Doncaster". Despite being bought at least 3 years after steam finished there are steam engines in view. I suspect that similar postcards could be bought in many other towns with "A Few Lines from X" as captions.

One less coal-fired power station. The cooling towers of the Thorpe Marsh Power Station which closed in 1994. The generator, control room, etc, were demolished some years ago but the towers lasted until 2012. HFF & have a great weekend.

The view northwards from the roof of the fabulous 12th century keep of Conisbrough Castle reveals the beautiful Don Valley and surrounding hills. It also allows the observer to see the ex-Great Central Railway line from Sheffield to Doncaster & this bridge over the river Don. Adding some railway interest a GBRf p-way train pulled by Class 66 diesel 66765 crosses the bridge heading towards Sheffield.
