Corrugated iron barn on a farm at Windmill, Great Hucklow. In the vicinity there were the carcasses and remains of at least ten tractors of varying vintages!

I saw this field barn at Bonsall Moor in Derbyshire and was taken by the use of Lake District green slate amidst the clay roofing tiles. This is unusual for such a utilitarian building.

Rusty corrugated iron catches the sun on this barn in Corris. This may well have been the original farmhouse with attached byre although the roofing materials would have been different then.
Quarry barn

This roofless building with a curved frontage is built against the face of a small limestone quarry in the parish of Tissington, not far from Ashbourne, Derbyshire. To the right are the remains of an earthen limekiln. There is no definitive account of its purpose but my interpretation is that it was erected after the quarrying ended and was used as a field barn, taking advantage of the two levels that made it easy to place feedstuffs in the top storey.

A trip to the Yorkshire Dales National Park included this view of a concrete and corrugated iron "Nissen" style barn in the fields above Dent. I doubt it will ever see the roofing sheets replaced as it probably serves little purpose these days other than as a shelter for the sheep.

Part way through a day of walking in the Yorkshire Dales National Park I found this scene comprising a barn, small quarry and a collapsed and robbed kiln on the bank below.

Field barn at Foolow in the High Peak. These buildings in the Peak Park can be very attractive although many are no longer used much for their original purpose. Planning restrictions tend to prevent them being converted for residential use.

An interesting use for panels off a caravan at this Cumbrian farm. Farmers never throw anything away.
Swinmore Farm

Corrugated iron barns seem to be the vernacular in much of Herefordshire and they certainly seem to fit well into the landscape. This example is on a little back lane at Swinmore Farm, Bosbury.

This one is for SemmyTrailer who knows everything about British lorries. As I know little about the subject I shall leave it to him to add the details. I can say that I spotted it hiding in a Derbyshire barn whilst out and about looking at disused railways.

No longer loved and now shedding roofing sheets is this Wiltshire barn. The plate on the end reads 'F. H. Dale builder Leominster'.
Barn near Elton

We took a walk into the Derbyshire Dales this afternoon in glorious sunshine. On the higher ground above Elton stands this lonely barn with an accompaniment of crows.
