The 2,000MW coal-fired power station at West Burton on the River Trent was commissioned in 1968. It was still working when I visited in 2019 but now demolition is well underway.

The B station has 3 Combined Cycle Gas Turbines with a total output of 1,332 MW. EDF has signed a binding agreement for the sale of West Burton B to EIG. EDF recently secured a Development Consent Order for a new gas-fired peaking plant power station of up to 299 MW at the existing West Burton Power Station site, known as West Burton C. This development consent will transfer to EIG under the terms of the sale of West Burton B.
