The second runpast outside Malmesbury was just as spectacular as the first. 19D 3322 and 24 3655 burst into the early sunshine with their mixed train on the Klawer Branch in Western Cape.

Early morning and 19D 3322 and 24 3655 are awaiting departure from Malmesbury onto the Klawer branch. The buildings on the left are a large grain mill.

19D 3322 and 24 3655 hammer out of Malmesbury on the Klawer branch of South African Railways in the Western Cape. One of the first shots on the recent FarRail tour. Oh that South African light!
An unexpected find

Malmesbury is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds and is almost entirely built of local stone. This makes the Old Library, 44 High St, stand out as something completely incongruous. The brick frontage with terracotta decoration is dated 1901. It seems very strange to introduce such alien materials on the High Street of such a picturesque town.

I do,however, much prefer it to the corporate awfulness of the W H Smith frontage.

This water tower in the Parish of Charlton, east of Malmesbury is surprisingly unpolluted by aerials and dishes.
