Sea Beast

Although now a dog of mature years our Jefferson still loves to plunge into the sea and generally goof about.

Do not touch

Someone was watching my progress through the back streets of Castleton in Derbyshire. I don't think this was the use the makers of Cat Mate intended.

A keen enthusiast is seen here awaiting departure from Froghall. She is actually sitting on her own blanket to protect the seat.

Dogs are not allowed on the furniture at Tarboat Towers, however that doesn't mean that dogs don't get on the furniture when they think nobody is around. The look here says that she has just woken up to the realisation that she is busted. All that is to come is to be unceremoniously put back on the floor. Such a nuisance when she was so comfortable.

Oh yes!

Seen at a window in Helmsley, North Yorkshire. I was immediately reminded of a certain insurance advert on the TV.

Whatever will they think of next?

A tin bath in the yard was always good enough for dogs, but now they can be treated to the full salon treatment in the back of a white van. I note that the delights include turbo drying and that the van is fitted with external cctv. Not something my dogs will be sampling any time soon.

Rossmore Quay

Sunset at Rossmore Quay on the Galway shore of Lough Derg. Jefferson surveys the barge that had brought us to this quiet place for the night.

Resting

16 Sep 2013 454
Took the dogs racing at Askern track at the weekend. A great day out was had by all and my two made some finals and even came back with a rosette for second place in one race. Amidst the barking and excitement trackside, I spotted this chap just chilling in the most comfortable corner he could find. :-)

Paddling

Niamh on her first seaside holiday. It was hard to get her out of the water as she loves beaches so much.

Beach, ball, and beast

Niamh and beaches are made for each other. Add a ball and she is in heaven. Nun Mill Bay, Kirkcudbright

Defence of the realm

22 Apr 2011 345
Jefferson does his best impression of a 29mm spigot mortar or Blacker Bombard ! The concrete cylinder with a stainless steel pin in the centre was constructed to mount this weapon for use in defending the Warburton Toll Bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal in WWII. The surrounding pit in which the three man crew and their store of ammunition would sit, has filled up with detritus over the nearly 70 years since it was abandoned.

I've just seen a cat!

17 Feb 2011 281
Jefferson has just spotted a cat in the garden from where I took this shot through the utility room window at Miss Tarboat's house. Jeff doesn't like cats, he really doesn't!

Southerness

10 Jul 2010 337
Niamh takes time out to explore the beach at Southerness on our recent Scottish trip. Southerness Point lies on the Solway Firth to the south of Dumfries. The lighthouse was originally erected in 1749 as a marker to aid ships entering the Nith Estuary and was raised in 1795. A light was added in about 1800 and the tower was raised again in 1843-44. It is now disused, the light having been taken out of use in the mid-1930s.

Jefferson

Jefferson is the latest addition to the Tarboat pack. Part hyena, part tiger, and very, very fast!

Splash!

30 Jan 2010 309
Jefferson has proved to be a water dog. He has no fear of water and is happy to plunge in to retrieve his ball.

Boat dog

23 Jul 2009 257
This week Niamh was introduced to the pleasures of boating. Apart from falling in before we set off she soon got the hang of patrolling the deck and looking out for pirates etc.
