We had a major snowstorm yesterday and today. Was supposed to go on a walk this morning, but no one else turned up, LOL! Wimps!! I did get an e-mail AFTER I got home almost two hours later, from the leader, saying that he had just spent half an hour trying to clear his driveway so that he could back his car out. Still had the rest to clear of almost two feet of packed snow - so the walk was cancelled! I had to use De-icer on my car locks in order to open the doors - worked very quickly. It was NOT a pleasant drive and I discovered it was treacherous at the other end. Just walked around the outer edge of the parking lot and I couldn't tell what I was walking on and what I was going to fall into! More snow to come : o Took a short walk this afternoon in a local park, as I wanted to check on "my" family of Great Horned Owls. Couldn't see Mum in the nesting tree, but Dad was sitting in an opposite tree, keeping guard. Saw two of these smallish birds down by the river. Didn't look familar and the closest ID attempt I can make is an American Pipit. Does anyone know if I am right or wrong? Thanks. Note: thanks to Jim (j. Gilbert) for confirming the ID!
