4 more pictures and a text notes above! They say that three time's a charm, and today was my third attempt to get pictures of the little pink flowers that are growing in our meadow! I was distracted along the way by lots of beautiful subjects... thistle fluff... extremely rare, nearly pure-white Moth Mullein... a big fly... but I would not allow anything else to take Picture of the Day! It was very breezy out, but not nearly so bad as yesterday, and I enjoyed walking around and taking pictures of different pink blossoms. I discovered they are called "willowherb" and more specifically, Threadstem Fireweed, named for its penchant for growing where fires have been. In our case, it's just dry as a bone around here! :) I have two other views of this tiny beauty, I hope you like them! :) Sir David Paradine Frost, OBE (7 April 1939 – 31 August 2013) was an English journalist, comedian, writer, media personality and television host. 2 other pictures above in notes! :) I was going to make this my Pick of the Day, but Steve thought the other one was nicer. I like them both but I really love the bokeh flowers that enhance this image! From Wiki: Epilobium minutum is a species of willowherb known by the common names chaparral willowherb and desert willowherb. It is also called "smallflower willowherb". However that name, in particular the British English variant "small-flowered willowherb", typically refers to Epilobium parviflorum. Epilobium minutum at the Kingston Prairie Preserve, Stayton, Oregon This annual wildflower is native to western North America from British Columbia and Alberta to California and Arizona. This is a plant of fields and meadows, including vernal pools, and it is one of the first flowers to spring up in areas recently cleared by wildfire. Epilobium minutum is a small, spindly plant with thin, branching stems approaching a maximum of 40 centimeters in height. The sparse leaves are oval-shaped and one or two centimeters long. The stems are topped with few tiny white to light purple flowers with notched petals each a few millimeters long. The fruit is a capsule one or two centimeters in length.

Such a lovely, dainty little flower! Its petals are so thin that the sun shines though them like they are made of thin tissue!
