-Soundtrack to Life- "Serenade to Spring" by Secret Garden: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWfunG_m96k Spring is my favorite time of year, and seeing these beautiful trees in bloom at Winterthur Gardens near Wilmington, Delaware were a real treat!

We woke up this morning to the results of last night's freezing rain. Signs of life persist while entombed in the form of buds on the branches. Weather forcasts for our area (the East Coast of the US) calls for another winter storm by the weekend. This has been the snowiest winter since I was a kid in the 1960s!

The biggest snowfall of the year for East Coast United States has just begun. Predicted snowfall: 8"-12" inches by tomorrow. Snow blower's ready! :D

This year I decided that instead of putting up the aluminum tree from my childhood, I would put up my four foot reproduction feather tree. It is decorated with vintage balls and plastic icicles. The elves and nativity are also vintage.

Week 1: Single tree, living or dead Here is a photo from the archives: Autumn a year ago we had a particularly colorful season. When the conditions are right, the Pin Oak in our back yard turns red for only a few days before turning brown. This particular year it was ablaze!

10-Week Picture project Week 7 (February 16-22): Tree Parts: Autumn Leaves Since I am in the dead of winter, I had to pull a photo from the archives. It's actually my first attempt with selective focus. Considering I used a point and shoot camera to make this image, I was happy to get the ladybug in focus. Taken in Autumn, 2013, the leaves from this pin oak in my yard were turning a beautiful rusty red before going to the usual brown color, something that does not occur every year.
